Job description

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and first-aid-trained SEN Tutor to provide tailored educational support to a student with medical needs in the Thurrock area.

Location: Thurrock
Hours: 10 hours per week
Start: ASAP
Contract: Part-time / Ongoing

About the Role

You will deliver one-to-one personalised learning to a student who is currently unable to attend school full-time. Sessions will take place in the home or a suitable community setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting learners with special educational needs and feel confident responding calmly and appropriately should any medical issue arise.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons based on the student's needs and curriculum level
  • Support the student's learning, confidence, and progress in a safe and nurturing environment
  • Monitor and record progress, feeding back to parents/carers and the commissioning body
  • Ensure safeguarding policies are followed at all times
  • Respond appropriately to medical needs, acting in line with first aid training and care plans
Requirements
  • First Aid training (essential)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, supportive approach
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
