We are seeking Firmware / FPGA Engineers at various levels to join Leonardo in Edinburgh and Newcastle. Leonardo is a world-class defence technology company.
We develop cutting-edge Radars for the Eurofighter Typhoon and SAAB Gripen fighter jets, as well as maritime and airborne surveillance systems. We also invest in innovation, conducting our own research to fuel future products. We are recruiting talented, motivated engineers to join our growing Electronics team.

This is an exciting opportunity for engineers to bring their skills to a fast-paced, dynamic, and forward-thinking environment. You will be involved in FPGA firmware development across the Radar and Advanced Targeting lines of business, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

What you'll bring:

As a Firmware / FPGA Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Hardware requirements capture and management
  • Concept development for complex functions and systems
  • FPGA design and analysis
  • Experience with verification techniques using VHDL or SystemVerilog/UVM
  • Producing materials for design reviews
  • Developing test plans, integration, and verification
  • Ensuring firmware designs follow company processes
  • Experience with FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel) and their tools
  • Holding a degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related sciences such as Physics
