Overview

Fire Alarms & Security Systems Engineer (Subcontract) – V7 are seeking skilled Service & Maintenance Engineers to work on a large-scale public sector programme across the Bath & Somerset area. This is a long-running contract with our national client, offering consistent, ongoing work and great potential for long-term subcontract opportunities. You'll service and maintain emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and security systems (including access control and intercom panels) across a range of public buildings—housing, education facilities, and care environments.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing, testing, and compliance checks on emergency lighting in line with BS 5266.
  • Service, fault-find, and repair both addressable and conventional fire alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839.
  • Service and maintain security systems, including access control and intercom panels (diagnostics, repairs, and testing).
  • Respond to reactive maintenance calls and complete remedial works where necessary.
  • Provide clear service reports and communicate findings with site contacts.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

What we’re looking for
  • Proven experience servicing emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience working on security systems, specifically access control and intercom panels.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards BS 5266 and BS 5839.
  • Electrical isolation qualification preferred.
  • Experience in housing, education, or care environments.
  • Must hold a current DBS check
