Job Title: Fire Alarm & Security Installation Engineer

Department: Fire & Security
Location: Wiltshire and surrounding counties
Reports to: Fire & Security Project/Service Manager
Employment Type: Full Time

About the Role

As a Fire Alarm & Security Installation Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality life-safety and electronic security systems to commercial, industrial, and residential clients. You will be responsible for installing and commissioning systems in line with industry standards, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and to the highest professional standard.

Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
  • Install, configure, and commission fire alarm systems (addressable and conventional).
  • Install and commission intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and associated security equipment.
  • Ensure all installations comply with BS 5839, BS 4737, BS EN 50131, and other relevant standards.
  • Complete system testing, fault-finding, and final handover documentation.
Technical
  • Interpret technical drawings, site plans, and wiring diagrams.
  • Work with cabling (FP200, Cat5/6, coax) and containment systems.
  • Diagnose installation issues and resolve them efficiently.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
  • Proven experience installing fire detection and security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and installation practices.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and work independently on-site.
  • Solid fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good IT literacy for system programming and commissioning.
Desirable
  • FIA training units or equivalent fire system qualifications.
  • Experience with major system manufacturers such as Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Apollo, Paxton, Hikvision, Honeywell, Ajax, etc.
  • ECS/CSCS card, IPAF, PASMA, or other site qualifications.
  • Relevant electrical or fire/security certifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
