Shift Hours

Monday - Thursday 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm, Friday 5am - 1pm / 1pm - 9pm (Candidates must be open to night shifts)

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Finishing Operative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for upgrading castings in ferrous alloys, ensuring high-quality standards, and working within precise tolerances. You will operate various tools and machinery, including water jetting units, shot blasting cabinets, and cut-off saws, to achieve optimal results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Upgrade and finish castings in ferrous alloys.
  • Remove castings from Replicast casting boxes as needed.
  • Operate high-pressure and low-pressure water jetting units for ceramic removal.
  • Remove fine ceramic mould materials from castings.
  • Load and unload abrasive grit blasting (shot blasting) cabinets.
  • Remove metal running, feeding, and gating systems using hand tools such as grinders, burrs, and abrasive belts.
  • Prepare castings for welding based on NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) results.
  • Dress castings back to drawing tolerance and profile.
  • Perform weld mapping activities.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and forklift trucks.
  • Use measurement tools such as vernier calipers, micrometres, and depth gauges to ensure precision.
  • Work to tight tolerances and follow all required quality control procedures.
Key Requirements
  • Experience in a metal finishing or casting environment, preferably with Ferrous alloys.
  • Competence in using hand tools and operating heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with NDT and CMM processes is an advantage.
  • Experience with water jetting, abrasive grit blasting, and saw cutting is beneficial.
  • Forklift truck and overhead crane operation experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work to exacting quality standards and tolerances.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including night shifts.
  • Full Training available for the right person
Shift Pattern
  • Monday - Thursday: 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm
  • Friday: 5am - 1pm / 1pm - 9pm
  • (Candidates must be open to night shifts)
