Financial Controller (6 month FTC) - Job Description
Position

Financial Controller (6-month contract)

Location

Isle of Man or Jersey (hybrid office/remote)

Reporting to

Finance Director (or equivalent)

Sector

Fiduciary, fund and advisory services (PE-backed)

Role Purpose

To drive disciplined financial reporting, control and compliance across the business, ensuring accurate and reliable financial information supports sound commercial decision‑making in a growing, private equity‑backed environment. The role will act as the hands‑on senior finance lead on a day‑to‑day basis, while the Finance Director focuses on strategic finance and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Control
  • Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑to‑date financial close processes.
  • Prepare timely and accurate management accounts with meaningful analysis.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, reconciliations and financial data.
Compliance and Governance
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment.
  • Support statutory, regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory bodies and tax advisors.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Analysis
  • Partner with business leaders to refresh budgets and short‑term forecasts.
  • Analyse variances against budget and prior periods, providing clear insights and recommendations.
Process and Systems
  • Champion improvements to financial systems, processes and controls to support hybrid working and business growth.
  • Drive automation and system integration where possible, including ERP and finance tools.
Team and Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with finance, operations and leadership teams to align performance metrics with business objectives.
  • Support the Finance Director with financial presentations and internal and external stakeholder communications.
Experience and Skills
Essential
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong financial control and reporting experience, ideally within financial services, fiduciary or funds environments.
  • High proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
  • Experience managing controls, compliance and audit processes.
Highly Desirable
  • Experience working in a private‑equity‑backed business.
  • Exposure to multi‑jurisdictional finance (Isle of Man and/or Jersey).
  • Background in process improvement and system implementation.
