With sales now spanning 11 online marketplaces (and counting), we’re scaling fast – investing in people, technology, and infrastructure. Growth is constant here, and so are the opportunities.

The Role – Financial Controller

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with a non‑executive Finance Director, you will take full responsibility for the accounting function across a small but expanding portfolio of fast‑growing limited companies. Your focus will be on providing strong financial governance, high‑quality insight and decision support to enable profitable, sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing monthly management accounts with meaningful analysis and recommendations
  • Preparing and managing budgets and cash‑flow forecasts
  • Analysing financial performance to identify opportunities for cost control and margin improvement
  • Supporting strategic decision‑making through robust financial insight
  • Liaising with external funders and supporting funding and grant applications
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and UK accounting standards
  • Managing year‑end processes with external accountants
  • Leading the migration from Sage Line 50 to Xero
  • Providing hands‑on support across day‑to‑day accounting activities (including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, payroll journals and intercompany transactions)
  • Recruiting support to take on transactional activity so you can focus on leadership, strategy and performance
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to shape and lead the finance function in a growing business
  • A clear pathway into a people‑leadership role
  • Supportive, forward‑thinking senior leadership who value your input
  • Permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • Flexibility with start/finish times – to be agreed at the outset (e.g. 8‑5, 8:30‑4:30, 9‑5)
  • Based at our Llandygai office in Bangor
  • Starting salary in the region of circa £45,000
About You

Bring
  • Experience in a financial controller or senior management accounting role within a growing SME
  • Sound professional judgement and the confidence to act as a trusted adviser to the Managing Director
  • Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to challenge and influence decision‑making
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience using accounting software (Xero preferred)
  • A CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification (or working towards)
  • The ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • A practical, proactive and calm approach, even in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and credibility with senior stakeholders
