Job description

We are pleased to be working with a large, well-known public-sector organisation in their search for a Finance Officer.

This role supports the delivery of effective financial management by assisting with budget preparation, monitoring financial risks, supporting efficiency and recovery planning, improving financial reporting systems, and responding to queries from senior staff to ensure informed decision-making and financial stability.

The role:

• Liaise with senior staff to support their understanding of budgets and address related queries.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets in line with financial strategies and timelines.
• Support the development of efficiency, recovery, and contingency plans within the directorate.
• Help identify financial risks and contribute to corrective actions to maintain financial stability.
• Assist in improving financial systems, reporting tools, and processes for better efficiency.
• Handle ad hoc financial reporting and queries from senior finance and management staff.
• Collaborate with finance leadership to ensure effective financial management and decision-making.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• University degree/AAT/HNC qualification and relevant financial experience
• OR Part qualified with a CCAB recognised body
• OR further financial experience
• Competent within Microsoft Excel with ability to manipulate large volumes of data
• Confident within accounting principles e.g. accruals and prepayments
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
