Summary

At M&S, Finance isn't just about the numbers, it's about shaping the future of one of the UK's most iconic brands. As a Finance Manager supporting our Digital & Technology teams in International, Loyalty & Financial Services, you'll be at the heart of bold transformation, helping us reset and grow across global markets, loyalty innovation, and financial services. This is a role where commercial curiosity meets strategic influence: you'll partner with senior leaders, challenge assumptions, and provide insights that drive decisions at the highest level. Joining M&S Finance means working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your impact is visible, your voice is valued, and your career can thrive.

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.

What you'll do

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Digital & Technology International, Loyalty and Financial Services, providing strategic financial analysis, commercial challenge, and actionable insights to support investment decisions at ExCo level.
  • Lead the financial governance of programmes, appraising new business cases, tracking inflight projects against OKRs and performance metrics, and conducting post-implementation reviews to ensure benefits are realised.
  • Drive financial planning cycles, including monthly R&O, quarterly reforecasts, budgets, and 5-year strategic plans, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver accurate and forward-looking projections.
  • Provide transparency and challenge on resourcing and costs, reviewing Digital & Technology product team requirements to ensure the right balance of skillsets, expenditure, and strategic partner deliverables.
  • Deliver insightful reporting and risk management, developing performance decks, horizon scanning for risks and opportunities, and presenting clear, actionable insights to senior leadership.
Who you are

Your skills and experience will include:

  • A qualified accountant with strong commercial experience, ideally with exposure to Technology Finance and/or International Retail, bringing credibility and technical expertise to the role.
  • A collaborative business partner, adept at building strong relationships across a matrix organisation, with a natural style that fosters trust and influence at senior and executive levels.
  • A commercially curious and analytical thinker, able to challenge assumptions, identify risks, and provide robust financial insights that drive better decision‑making.
  • A resilient operator who thrives at pace, capable of managing multiple competing demands, prioritising effectively, and maintaining discipline and control in all deliverables.
  • A change agent with influence, willing to challenge the status quo, manage change constructively, and contribute to shaping the future of International, Loyalty and Financial Services programmes.
What's in it for you?

Working at M&S means being part of something bigger - helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day. We're inclusive, fast-moving and always evolving, with a strong sense of purpose and a focus on doing the right thing.

Here are just a few of the benefits that make working here even more rewarding:

  • 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third‑party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you've completed your probation
  • Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more
  • Discretionary bonus schemes linked to your performance and ours
  • Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future
  • Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one
  • Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal
  • Market‑leading family policies, including parental, adoption and neonatal leave
  • 24/7 wellbeing support, including virtual GP access and mental health services
  • One paid volunteer day a year to support a cause that matters to you
