Job Title: Temporary Finance Assistant

Location: East London

Contract Type: Full-time (Term-time + additional weeks)

Salary: £17 - £18 per hour

Purpose of the Role

To provide efficient and accurate financial and administrative support within the school’s finance department, ensuring compliance with school policies and statutory requirements. The role requires experience with PS Financials (PSF) software and a strong understanding of school finance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Processing
    • Process purchase orders, invoices, and credit notes using PSF.
    • Maintain accurate records of income and expenditure.
    • Assist with bank reconciliations and petty cash management.
    • Support payroll administration and staff expense claims.
  • Budget & Reporting
    • Assist in preparing monthly and termly financial reports for senior leadership.
    • Monitor departmental budgets and flag variances.
    • Support year-end procedures and audits.
  • Compliance & Administration
    • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and school policies.
    • Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
    • Liaise with suppliers, staff, and external stakeholders regarding finance queries.
  • System Management
    • Input and maintain data in PS Financials accurately.
    • Generate reports and assist with troubleshooting PSF-related issues.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a school finance role.
  • Proficiency in PS Financials (PSF) software.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and MS Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of FMS or other school finance systems.
  • Experience with payroll and HR processes.
