The Opportunity: Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly proactive, fully qualified Financial Accountant to join the head office of a passionate, collaborative, and rapidly growing company operating within the industrial, manufacturing, or FMCG sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to sit right at the heart of the finance team, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the Senior Management Accountant. We are seeking a proactive, self-starting individual who is driven to succeed. You will be empowered with immediate ownership of two key legal entities within the group, requiring both initiative and a high degree of autonomy

The role offers the perfect blend of essential Management Accounting duties and critical Statutory Accounts preparation.

Key Responsibilities

This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with a passion for process improvement:

  • Management Accounts: Responsibility for the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts for two Ltd companies, ensuring strict deadlines are met, including accurate reporting of stocks.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure company compliance with relevant financial legislative and reporting requirements. This includes continuing CPD, awareness of upcoming legislative changes, and maintaining robust controls within the GDPR framework.
  • Balance Sheet Integrity: Maintain clean balance sheets for both entities, providing monthly commentary and raising any associated risks or opportunities.
  • Tax & Duties Lead: Act as the point of contact for the business regarding VAT, Duty, and Tax with respect to import/export activities.
  • Budgeting & Planning: Oversight of entity budgets, including planning and business partnering, feeding into the preparation of consolidated group budgets.
  • Process Improvement: Lead efficiency improvement projects at the site, including activity-based costing and scenario planning. Contribute to internal control processes to safeguard financial systems.
  • Reporting: Ensure the accurate completion of monthly KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), including commentary and recommendations for improvement.
  • Project Work: Undertake project work within the finance department and wider business as required.
Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a finance professional who can demonstrate technical excellence alongside strong business acumen:

  • Qualification: Must be a Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Sector Experience (Desirable): Proven experience in financial reporting, tax & duties, and management accounting within the industrial, manufacturing, or FMCG sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IFRS / FRS (Financial Reporting Standards).
  • System Proficiency: Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, with a particular strength in Excel.
  • Stock Accounting: Knowledge and experience in stock accounting is highly desirable.
  • Communication & Partnering: Excellent communicator with strong partnering skills. Ability to present complex financial information clearly to stakeholders and senior management.
