Job description
Overview

Field Engineer for the Gigaclear FTTH/FTTP network. Role involves Break Fix work across traditional civils/buried networks, PIA underground and overhead. A training pathway with external sector accredited courses (underground and overhead PIA, NRSWA, etc.) and internal Gigaclear network training, fibre splicing and testing.

Reporting to the Operations Manager. Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 dependent on experience and current qualifications/accreditations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the allocated Break Fix schedules, working with stakeholders to complete work on time, safely and to standard.
  • Perform Break Fix activities including traditional underground/buried networks and PIA overhead/underground issues and fixes.
  • Service repair on PIA PON network communities.
  • Provide initial first response to Gigaclear’s overhead poles and feedback for contractor instruction.
  • Fibre splicing and testing.
  • Ensure own and team quality and Health & Safety standards across work.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Background in Civils, Fibre and/or Telecoms, ideally fibre optic networks (FTTH/FTTP).
  • Experience with installations, fault fix, repair and/or maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and fault fix network issues.
  • Desirable: knowledge of on-site Civils specifications (e.g., NRSWA).
  • Ability to understand, interpret and adhere to risk & method assessments.
Qualifications & Accreditations
  • Full driving licence (manual), held for 12 months or more.
  • DBS check (or ability to pass).
  • Ideally hold a NRSWA Operative accreditation.
Notes

All offers of employment are subject to interview. Onboarding includes licence checks and regular monitoring of driving style, plus drug & alcohol testing with random testing during employment. Offers may be withdrawn if drug/alcohol test is failed.
