Overview

Personal assistant required to support our young daughter with Cerebral Palsy who is non-verbal and has the developmental age of a two year old. This role involves assisting with daily living tasks and enabling participation in activities while ensuring safety.

Responsibilities
  • Support and/or prompt with personal care, including toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, and getting dressed.
  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
  • Assist with household chores and general homemaking.
  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
  • Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
  • Move and handle safely; training provided by the employer.
  • First Aid training provided by the employer.
  • Epilepsy training provided by the employer.
  • Successful candidates will undertake any training considered necessary and appropriate to the role.
Requirements / Qualities
  • Car driver preferred but not essential.
  • Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately, be patient, supportive and caring.
  • Good listening skills and ability to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
  • Be empathetic and have a genuine interest in supporting people with disability/illness to achieve their goals.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the employer's needs on a daily basis; flexibility around varying hours.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to get involved and a lively personality.
Hours and schedule
  • Monday to Friday, 16:00 – 18:00 during term time, with variable hours in school holidays (12 hours per week).
  • Saturday, variable to suit applicant.
  • Sunday, occasional hour offered.
