About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve powered UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. But our work goes beyond energy supply. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, progressing towards Net Zero by using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

About your role:

This advert aims to inspire more females to pursue an engineering apprenticeship.

We’re committed to reaching net zero by 2050 and recognize some customers prefer female engineers in their homes. That’s where you come in. Not your typical engineer? Great. We’re not your typical energy company, and this isn’t your typical job.

As an apprentice, you’ll gain skills by working with one of our engineering teams, such as Gas Service & Repair, Heating Installation, or Smart Metering (recruiting in most areas). We offer various entry routes in 2025 and are excited to welcome new colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

• 4 GCSEs, including Maths & English at grade C/4 or above or recognized equivalent
• A passion for learning a trade, building a successful career, and delivering excellent customer service
• A full UK driving license with 6 points or less
• Availability to attend training at our UK-wide academies, with accommodation and travel provided if needed.

What’s in it for you:

• Starting salaries from £16,053 to £18,564, increasing with your progress, potentially up to £45,483
• Post-completion salary aligned with fully skilled engineers or electricians (duration varies by apprenticeship)
• London Weighting Allowance from £4,160 to £6,240 depending on location
