A notable educational institution in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced educator to teach GCSE and Functional Skills Mathematics. The role involves teaching learners aged 16-19 and an adult class weekly. Ideal candidates will hold a degree and ideally a teaching qualification, with strong communication and organisational skills. You will deliver high-quality teaching of GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Mathematics to learners aged 16-19 who are undertaking resit programmes as part of their broader vocational study pathway. In addition, the role includes teaching an adult Functional Skills Maths class one evening per week.
As a valued member of a dynamic and committed team, you will play a key role in enhancing mathematical learning across designated curriculum areas. This will be achieved in alignment with the GCSE and Functional Skills specifications for Mathematics, as well as the Professional Standards set by the Education and Training Foundation.
This is a part time role, 0.6 FTE. The working pattern for this role is 3 days per week – Monday day time, including an evening class, Wednesday day time and Thursday day time.
You will be an experienced educator with a strong understanding of Mathematics and Functional Skills Mathematics, child development, and educational practice. You will hold a relevant degree or professional qualification, and ideally a recognised teaching qualification (or be working towards one). A background in delivering high‑quality, engaging teaching to post‑16 learners is essential.
You will have up-to-date knowledge of current developments in the early years and education sector, including national frameworks, safeguarding requirements, and progression pathways into employment or higher education.
Effective communication, organisational and pastoral skills are essential, alongside the ability to inspire and support learners of all backgrounds. You will be a reflective practitioner, committed to inclusive education and continuous professional development, and ready to contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
