Family Law Solicitor – Public Family Team (3‑4 PQE)
Salary: £44,000‑£56,000 (depending on experience and Panel status)
Location: Luton Area – Hybrid Working (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

The role
As a Family Law Solicitor you will:
- Manage a diverse caseload of public family law matters including child protection care proceedings and family support cases
- Provide expert legal advice to clients on their rights, options and realistic outcomes
- Prepare and file court documentation including statements, applications and evidence bundles
- Represent clients in court proceedings and attend case conferences with local authorities and other parties
- Conduct client consultations with sensitivity and professionalism, often in emotionally charged circumstances
- Liaise with courts, social services and other professionals to progress cases efficiently
- Maintain detailed case records and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements
- Contribute to team knowledge by sharing expertise and supporting junior colleagues
About you
Essential requirements
3‑4 years Post‑Qualification Experience (PQE) in family law ideally with public family law experience>
Current or pending Legal Services Board (LSB) Panel membership (or demonstrable commitment to obtaining Panel status)
Strong knowledge of family law procedure, evidence and child protection frameworks
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
Emotional intelligence and resilience to work sensitively with vulnerable clients and challenging situations
Proficiency with legal case‑management systems and Microsoft Office
Current practising certificate in good standing
Desirable skills
Experience with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) or mediation in family matters
Knowledge of child safeguarding and local authority procedures
Track record of positive client feedback and case outcomes
Interest in continuing professional development within family law
