A community support organization in Greater London is seeking a Family Domestic Abuse Support Advisor to provide integral support to families impacted by domestic abuse. This role involves collaboration with social care teams and requires strong communication, crisis management, and safeguarding skills. The successful candidate will assist in assessments, offer direct casework, and manage sensitive information. This fixed-term position offers a salary range of £24,956 to £25,350 pro rata, and is focused on empowering families to achieve better outcomes.
Family Domestic Abuse Support Advisor - Maternity Cover
Location: Covering West Cornwall
Salary: £24,956 (pro rata) per annum rising to £25,350 (pro rata) per annum after successful probation
Vacancy Type: Fixed term until 31st July 2026 with the potential for extension subject to future funding
The role is to provide specialist domestic abuse support alongside Social Work Family Assessment Teams (FAST) across Cornwall. The postholder will be based and integrated within a FAST social work Team and work collaboratively to provide assessment and service planning to the whole family who are affected by domestic abuse. The post holder will work with social work staff to offer insight and direct case work to families where the primary issue is domestic abuse.
In families who have been identified as having been affected by Domestic Abuse, the Family DASA will support the undertaking of social work assessments and support ongoing plans with families and social work staff. The teams will work together to support families to stay together safely, improve health and educational outcomes for the children and reduce physical and emotional harm in families impacted by domestic abuse.
The role is designed to empower and engage parents and carers to make the positive changes needed to achieve improved outcomes for their children and their own wellbeing where domestic abuse is a factor. By meeting the complex needs of adults, they can reduce the risk to children. The Family DASA will undertake risk assessments, safety planning and provide emotional and practical support and referral on to appropriate services including Safer Futures the Integrated Domestic Abuse Service.
