Job description

We welcome applications from finance professionals who enjoy partnering with non-financial colleagues and providing high-quality management accounting to support strategic decision-making in a complex operational environment.

About the Role

Cranfield University is seeking a Facilities Management Accountant to provide high-quality financial management and accounting support to the Facilities Professional Service Unit. Working as part of the Finance Professional Service Unit and embedded within Facilities, you will deliver robust management and financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support the achievement of Facilities' strategic objectives. You will work closely with Facilities budget holders to interpret financial information, explain variances, provide funding options, and support value‑for‑money decision‑making.

A key aspect of the role is translating complex financial data into clear, accessible information using reports, dashboards and visual tools, enabling non‑financial colleagues to understand financial implications and make informed decisions. You will also support statutory and sector reporting requirements, including the Estates Management Record, and act as a trusted point of contact for Facilities‑related financial queries.

About You

You will be a part‑qualified CCAB accountant, or have significant experience working in a management accounting environment, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide clear, practical advice.

You will bring:

  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence communicating financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines in a complex environment.

Experience gained within a large, complex organisation or the Higher Education sector, along with knowledge of Agresso or similar financial systems, would be advantageous.
