Position: Fabric Developer
Location: Clerkenwell, Central London

Known for its signature shapes, intricate embroideries, and exuberant prints, the brand has developed a multidimensional ecosystem where fashion intersects with cultural initiatives, immersive environments, and artistic collaborations.

Position Overview

SALONI is looking for a dynamic and organised Fabric Developer to provide support within the London office across all sourcing, development, and logistical requirements relating to fabrics for the mainline collections, special projects, and collaborations. The successful candidate will have a highly creative eye for fabrics, excellent interpersonal skills, be committed and hardworking, and be familiar with working in a busy, multitasked creative environment. The ideal candidate will be a champion of social and environmental responsibility, as this mindset is core to our business and fundamental to our long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and source fabrics and artworks, or adapt fabric designs, as required by the design team.
  • Liaise with suppliers to gather costs and technical information, and input accurate data into fabric charts ahead of production.
  • Organise and maintain the fabric archive both physically and digitally.
  • Create fabric development artworks and specifications for swatches and garment samples.
  • Issue strike-offs, lab dips, and sampling purchase orders.
  • Track all stages of fabric development using visual sampling sheets, ensuring clarity on items under development, approved, or cancelled.
  • Communicate fabric delivery dates to the sampling department and follow up with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Check, measure, and record all received sampling fabrics (maintaining the colour standard folder).
  • Manage up-to-date records of leftover sampling and production fabrics held in-house and with suppliers.
  • Ensure all fabric names, codes, and details are accurate and correctly entered into the Fabric Chart for a smooth transition from sampling to production.
Qualifications and Skills
  • BA, MA or equivalent qualification in Fashion Textiles Design.
  • Highly organised, with experience working within a luxury design studio.
  • In-depth technical understanding of fabric processes, including print, embroidery, and woven jacquards.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe InDesign.
  • Advantageous but not essential: skilled in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
