Exam Invigilator

Burnley - North Manchester
Salary: £13 per hour
Contract Type: Part-time, Contractor

School ICT Services are looking for Exam Invigilators to join our team supporting schools across Burnley.

This role is ideal for individuals with a background in administration, either in business or education. Previous experience as an exam invigilator or working within a school setting is desirable but not essential.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of exams, maintaining exam integrity, and supporting students in a calm and professional environment. You must be flexible, reliable, and able to travel at short notice. Ideally, you will live within a 5-mile radius of the school location.

You will be responsible for maintaining exam security, preparing exam rooms, and supporting students with special arrangements. You will also be expected to report any issues to the Exams Officer and ensure all exam materials are handled appropriately.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and all necessary pre‑employment screening.

Please note that satisfactory employment references must be received prior to appointment or onboarding.

We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A–C) including English and Maths
  • Are calm under pressure and have excellent attention to detail
  • Can communicate effectively and work independently
  • Are committed to safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality
  • Have experience working with young people or in an educational setting (desirable)

This role is offered on a part‑time basis aligned with the school’s exam schedule, which usually falls in the following months (this may change from time to time): Nov/Dec, Feb/March or May/June.
