Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing commercial construction team in Scarborough, Maine. This full-time, direct hire position offers excellent benefits, long-term career growth, and the opportunity to play a key role in delivering successful projects across diverse sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the estimation process for commercial construction projects from initial review to proposal submission.
  • Analyze and interpret bid documents, including civil, architectural, structural, MEP, fire protection, and technology drawings.
  • Perform quantity take-offs using On-Screen Takeoff software.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by CSI codes, incorporating labor, materials, equipment, and scheduling factors.
  • Build and maintain a cost database using historical and current data.
  • Develop bid leveling worksheets, RFPs, and final proposals.
  • Participate in pre-bid site visits, walk-throughs, and project meetings.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor bids to ensure competitive pricing and scope coverage.
  • Incorporate risk assessments, safety considerations, and compliance with codes and regulations into estimates.
  • Transition awarded projects to the project management team with thorough documentation and communication.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, architects, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, and Bluebeam.
  • Conceptual estimating experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction costs, pricing trends, and city-specific codes.
