Job description

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Estates Supervisor to take on a key leadership role within our Property Services team. You'll supervise and support a team of Mobile Maintenance Operatives across the region, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and performance targets are met. You'll also manage small to medium‑scale projects, provide expert technical advice and surveying services, and help maintain a diverse property portfolio. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring compliance, quality, and continuity of service essential in supporting vulnerable children, young people and adults across our organisation. The role is field‑based and home‑based, covering the West Midlands, Shropshire, and North Wales. It involves extensive travel within this area, with a car and mileage allowance provided, and occasional travel beyond the region requiring overnight stays.

  • Line manage a team of Mobile Maintenance Operatives, provide supervision, leadership and support, offer technical experience and advice, carry out formal supervisions, recruitment of new staff, address HR/Fleet issues, and to continually assess the quality of works and performance against agreed standards.
  • Manage small to medium projects, including preparing specifications, schedules, budgets, and tender documentation.
  • Appoint and oversee contractors and on‑site works, carrying out regular quality audits and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Ensure all works and equipment meet current legislative, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support compliance with Health Authority, EHO, and Fire Officer actions, resolving issues within agreed timescales.
  • Conduct inspections, investigate maintenance issues, and prepare reports or recommendations.
  • Review capital expenditure requests and assist in monitoring planned maintenance compliance.
  • Maintain an approved contractor list and support continuous improvement across the estates function.
  • Promote ongoing professional development for yourself and your team
