Job summary

A local authority in Greater Manchester is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Protection Officer to deliver statutory Environmental Protection functions. You will support noise complaints, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with legislation. This role offers £45 per hour and a hybrid working model of 2-3 days onsite. Job description

I am working with a local authority in the Greater Manchester area who are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Environmental Protection Officer.

  • Role: Environmental Protection Officer
  • Location: Greater Manchester
  • Rate: £45 an hour +
  • Contract length: 3-6 months, potential to be extended
  • Working pattern: 2 to 3 days on site, the rest from home.

You will be assisting with the delivery of statutory Environmental Protection functions, ensuring people and premises comply with relevant legislation. You will lead inspections and investigations, and there may be a need for you to use enforcement action.

The Role:
  • You will be needed to support the team with reactive Noise and Stat Nuisance complaints.
  • Support the routine operational activities of the Environmental Protection Pollution Control function, including providing technical guidance and professional advice as required.
  • Ensure that pollution control policies and strategies within Environmental Protection are effectively implemented, تحقق regularly reviewed, and supported by appropriate monitoring programmes.
  • Conduct investigations into air quality and contaminated land complaints, ensuring that suitable follow-up actions are taken. Provide pollution control advice and information to commercial and industrial premises, and where necessary, investigate complaints and enforce appropriate measures.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in Environmental Protection.
  • EHRB registration (desirable, not essential)oden similar qualifications.
  • Using your expertise to advise, assist, and enforce legal standards under key legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Control of Pollution Act 1974.
  • Conducting site visits, gathering evidence, and preparing legal notices to uphold community safety.
The Contract:
  • 3-6 months, potential to be extended.
  • £45+ per hour.
  • Hybrid working 2-3 days onsite and the rest from home.
