Job description
Overview

As an Environmental Laboratory Analyst, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As part of the analytical team, you will deliver efficient analytical services to customers in line with aspects of safety, quality and environmental standards. Day-to-day, you'll conduct chemistry analysis on sample types based at our lab in support of a range of client sites, such as Sellafield, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards which allow for site license permits to be obtained. This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and is based on site at Westlakes Science Park, Whitehaven. You will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of assigned programmes of work to support the overall delivery of analytical results to time and quality
  • Comply with the laboratory quality management systems to support accreditation
  • Comply with processes and procedures to enable safe working practices
  • Work as part of an effective team to support and coach each other to provide a consistent and efficient level of service
  • Identify and report issues to maintain and improve operational capability and level of service
  • Assist with the validation of new and existing techniques and equipment prior to use to comply with quality systems
Qualifications and Skills
  • Science A Level at grade A to C or equivalent and/or significant practical laboratory experience
  • Experience in analytical chemistry is desirable
  • Awareness of conventional and radiological safety
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques is advantageous
  • Awareness of ISO17025 standard
  • IT literate
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Organisational skills
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role
