Job description
Overview

The purpose of this role is to develop and deliver specialist investigative support/advice for Regulatory Services in the fields of noise / acoustics and statutory nuisance. You will work closely with the team’s members, as well as with colleagues from other services, such as the ASB team, Property Licensing, Planning Enforcement and external stakeholders, as part of case investigations and other project work. The role includes both office-based work and site visits.

Responsibilities
  • Review, assess and provide consultation comments on planning applications, in respect of noise.
  • Undertake investigations, in relation to noise statutory nuisance, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Council’s relevant policies and procedures.
  • Review Section 61 applications and grant consents, under the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
  • Review licensing applications and Temporary Event Notices and provide comments, in respect of noise.
  • Act as the Council’s Environmental Protection representative at liaison / forum meetings.
Career Grade Qualification Requirements
  • PO2: Applicants must hold a Degree / Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant subject area OR have moderate experience of noise / acoustics, statutory nuisance and associated Council functions, in relation to the above work areas.
  • PO3: Applicants must have both the following requirements: (1) a Degree / Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant subject area; (2) relevant competencies and moderate experience of noise / acoustics, statutory nuisance and associated Council functions, in relation to the above work areas.
  • PO4: Applicants must have all the following requirements: (1) a Degree / Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant subject area; (2) a specific noise qualification (e.g. MSc/Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control); (3) relevant competencies and substantial post-degree experience of noise / acoustics, statutory nuisance and associated Council functions, in relation to the above work areas; (4) satisfactory employment references; (5) satisfactory declaration of interest.
