The successful candidate will be expected to deliver independently across a variety of projects and support the Head of Sustainability in all environmental and sustainability aspects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure sites are compliant with environmental legislation and company and client requirements.
  • Minimise risks of potential breaches.
  • Support site teams and the business.
  • Be involved in business improvement initiatives particularly with regard to sustainability issues.
  • Audit and inspect VS projects on a regular basis.
  • Promote environmental awareness on projects, through training, briefings, poster campaigns and other communication methods.
  • Encourage a reduction in carbon emissions on projects and across the company.
  • Plan and provide training to site teams and other interested parties.
  • Plan and attend internal and external meetings as required by the role.
  • Undertake incident investigations and draft action plans and reports for senior management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships.
  • Work effectively and professionally with regulators and third parties.
Support and Work with Other Environmental Team Members
  • Be interested in the sustainability agenda and willing to become involved with and champion new initiatives.
  • Actively promote the VolkerStevin safety behavioural programme and the VolkerStevin Way.
  • Embrace the challenges of change and help others to become receptive and responsive to new ideas and innovations.
About You
  • Good working knowledge of environmental legislation and its application within an engineering and construction environment.
  • Previous experience of the wastewater industry would be advantageous.
  • Professional environmental qualification (e.g., PISEF) preferred.
  • Requirement to travel and spend nights away; must hold a full driving licence.
  • Flexible about working from home but must be regularly visible on sites and in the office.
