Overview

Environment and Sustainability Manager – Wellcome Genome Campus Ltd (WGCL). £50,000 to £60,000 plus excellent benefits and bonus potential. WGCL is seeking to recruit an Environment and Sustainability Manager to contribute to its renowned scientific research campus, home to leading institutes in genomics and computational biology.

The Campus is expanding significantly, with planning permission granted in 2020 to grow from 125 acres to 440 acres, including space for R&D, laboratories, offices, housing, and community facilities. The project is already underway, with expansion activities continuing in 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Lead audits and monitor sustainability KPIs to deliver the Campus’s environmental strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and relevant environmental legislation.
  • Promote behavioural change to embed a culture of environmental responsibility across operations, supporting the Campus’s expansion.
  • Advise, influence and manage relationships within a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Support continuous improvement in environmental performance and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Practitioner Membership of IEMA (or working towards it).
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance frameworks and UK environmental legislation, including reporting requirements.
  • Confident and natural communicator with the ability to advise, influence and manage relationships in a multi-stakeholder setting.
