We are pleased to advertise this rare andexciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within thearea of Adult Enteral Feeding. Thepost holder will provide expert enteral feeding guidance and training topatients, carers and multidisciplinary health care professionals both withininpatient and outpatient settings at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The postholder will be professionally and operationally responsible for a small team ofband 6 enteral feeding nurse specialists who are part of the Adult Nutritionand Dietetic Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Weare looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse witheffective leadership, communication, interpersonal skills and experiencemanaging a team. You will require postregistration experience and a working knowledge of enteral tube feeding.
Thepost holder will work closely with medical, nursing and allied healthprofessional colleagues in a variety of clinical services including endoscopy, radiology,theatres and emergency services to support enteral feeding tube placement,troubleshooting and removal.
Inaddition to the delivery of clinical work, the post holder will also berequired to develop, deliver and competency assess enteral feeding training andeducation to medical, nursing and allied health professionals in specialistskills such as the initial insertion and reinsertion of enteral feeding tubes(nasogastric, gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubes).
Thepost-holder will be responsible for trust wide audit of enteral tube feedingpractices and priority tube care training.They will lead on service development of enteral feeding care practicesas well as review and development of evidence based enteral feeding guidelines,care plans and patient information leaflets.They support safe, innovative and effective delivery of enteral tubefeeding care by contributing to the trust wide enteral nutrition steeringgroup.

Provideadvanced, highly specialist nursing care to enterally tube fed patientsreceiving secondary and tertiary care at LTHT as required, reducing the risksof enteral feeding in these patients.The post holder will be the Adult clinical nurse specialist (CNS)member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for the clinical care ofpatients requiring enteral feeding within Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.Clinical input and guidance for complex enteral feeding patients within LTHTas required. Contribute to specialist enteral tube feeding education andtraining programmes for patients carers and health care professionals, forLeeds Health Economy. Specialist input into the development of LTHT enteraltube feeding guidelines (which apply in Leeds Community Healthcare i.e. citywide) and care plans. Input into research and audit within specialisedclinical area and disseminate findings as applicable to delivering prioritiesand reducing risk of enteral feeding. Coordinate trust wide implementation ofenteral feeding guidelines, care plans and directives.

Thejobholder:
Provide a strong directional rolefor education of nurses in the administration of safe enteral nutrition.
Provide nursing lead in area ofenteral tube feeding and role model to nursing teams, by delivering highquality care as an expert practitioner.
Further develop own specialistskills in the initial insertion and reinsertion of enteral feeding tubes(naso-gastric, naso-jejunal, gastrostomy tubes (all types) and jejunostomytubes.
Assess and advise on the managementand resolution of complications surrounding enteral feeding tubes e.g.percutaneous or radio logically inserted gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubesthat have become infected or displaced.
Be a core member of themultidisciplinary care team, liaising with other members of the team toprovide integrated nursing care to enterally fed patients.
Act as an expert autonomousresource for medical, nursing and other healthcare professionals caring forpatients receiving enteral feeding.
Use research findings as the basisof practice.
Input to research activities andundertake audit projects within specialised area as applicable to deliveringpriorities.
Be an expert resource within LTHTand the Leeds Health Economy for advising on management of enteral tubefeeding problems.

Qualifications
Recognised teachingqualification/training.
Experience
Working knowledge as a specialistwith enteral tube feeding.
Evidence of obtaining andmaintaining enteral tubes placement competencies
CPD linked to management of complexnutritional support and artificial feeding
Skills
Able to work within a team,demonstrating leadership, initiative and confidence.
Good written, oral andinterpersonal communication skills.

Knowledge
