Bring your engineering and project management expertise to the Shire of Capel! We currently have two opportunities: 1x full time permanent role and one fixed term full time parental leave cover (up to 12 months). As part of our Infrastructure & Development directorate, you’ll provide technical support in the assessment, coordination and delivery of engineering and capital works projects, subdivision compliance, contractor management and extractive industry licensing.

Job Description
  • Provide technical and administrative support across engineering and capital works projects.
  • Assess traffic management plans, subdivision designs and third party works in road reserves.
  • Manage extractive industry licensing and compliance in line with Shire policies.
  • Assist with project planning, contractor management and asset data collection.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, assist with the preparation of Council reports and support environmental approvals.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of engineering project management practices for municipal infrastructure such as roads, paths, drainage and landscaping.
  • Experience in engineering design/review, construction techniques, materials and equipment for infrastructure delivery.
  • Understanding of preliminary project planning processes including project briefs, permits, funding applications and budgeting.
  • Experience managing environmental processes realating to road construction.
  • Experience in the development and compliance management of extractive industry licensing.
  • Solid computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Current "C" Class WA Driver’s Licence.

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Project Management, experience in local or state government works programs and knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards will be highly regarded.

Skills in CAD/survey, traffic management and grant funding processes will further strengthen your application.
