The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development and ensure an outstanding student experience, while supporting learners in achieving their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves planning and delivering effective teaching across a range of Mechanical Engineering programmes. This includes the development of lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment materials, and conducting assessments using appropriate methods. You will be required to set individual targets for students, guide them through the learning process, and support their progression through action planning and review.

In addition to teaching, you will maintain accurate records of students progress, achievement, attendance, and retention using electronic systems. Promoting and monitoring high levels of student attendance and following up with non-attenders as required will be an integral part of the role.

The Lecturer will act as a personal tutor for learners, providing academic and pastoral support. For students requiring additional learning support, you will collaborate with Learning Support Assistants to ensure appropriate interventions and adjustments are made.

Contributing to curriculum planning and development through team meetings, course reviews, and evaluations is also key. You will actively participate in quality assurance processes, including internal verification, course assessment, and self-assessment. You will also promote the use of Information Learning Technology (ILT) to enhance learning experiences and ensure that all learners receive a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Lecturer may be required to undertake Course or Subject Leader duties, depending on the needs of the department. You will also support recruitment and enrolment activities, offer guidance to prospective students, and participate in promotional events such as open evenings and parent/carer meetings.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will maintain strong relationships with employers, support services, and other staff members to ensure student success. The role will require the completion of administrative tasks, including data checks and reporting in a timely manner, as well as ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health and safety policies.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to continuous professional development, keeping up to date with the latest industry and curriculum developments, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all aspects of teaching and learning.
