Sustainability Consultant - Building Physics & Carbon

Oxford | Hybrid working | Up to £45k

A well‑established UK‑based multidisciplinary consultancy is continuing to invest in the growth of its Sustainability and Building Performance capability in London.

As part of this expansion, the consultancy is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant to join its London team. This role is well suited to someone with a strong grounding in Building Physics, who is looking to broaden their exposure to Whole Life Carbon (WLC) within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

The Role

You’ll work closely with senior consultants and technical leads to deliver sustainability and building performance services across a broad range of projects. The role is technically focused, with an emphasis on building physics and operational energy, alongside exposure to Whole Life Carbon assessments.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering building physics and energy modelling services to support low‑carbon design.
  • Undertaking dynamic thermal modelling, overheating analysis and operational energy studies.
  • Supporting Whole Life Carbon assessments, working alongside more experienced carbon specialists where required.
  • Collaborating with architects, MEP engineers and wider design teams to influence sustainable outcomes.
  • Contributing to sustainability strategies and reports for planning and design stages.
  • Supporting senior team members with project delivery and client engagement.
About You
  • Experience working in a sustainability or building physics consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical capability in Building Physics / Energy Modelling (IES‑VE or similar).
  • Some exposure to Whole Life Carbon or embodied carbon assessments (you do not need to be a carbon specialist).
  • A good understanding of low‑carbon design principles and building performance.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Keen to continue developing both technical and client‑facing skills.
Why Join?
  • Join a growing Sustainability team with clear investment and long‑term plans in London.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary consultancy where sustainability is integrated with building services, structures and cost consultancy.
  • Gain exposure to both Building Physics and Whole Life Carbon, with scope to specialise over time.
  • Strong support for professional development, training and career progression.
  • Opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects across multiple sectors.
  • Whether you’re working in the larger corporate companies or a small SME this is certainly one to take note of. Please don’t hesitate to apply or get in touch for further info on the email below, we can arrange a confidential conversation anytime to suit you.
