Overview

We’re recruiting an Employment Adviser to provide advice and support to participants seeking employment. The role involves overcoming barriers, coaching and mentoring, and building strong relationships to enable sustainable employment.

Employment Details

Location: Office-based in Bristol.

Hours: 37 hours a week – Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Salary: £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience) with competitive benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Progressively manage a caseload of referred customers using strategies to help them overcome barriers to employment.
  • Deliver a positive customer experience, ensuring engagement with the programme.
  • Facilitate assessments, using tools to understand personal circumstances, ambitions and goals.
  • Provide advice on self‑employment and signpost to internal specialists.
  • Co‑produce tailored Action Plans featuring SMART targets.
  • Support job‑search, interview preparation, ensuring matches to suitable jobs.
  • Deliver training to master digital technologies for self‑service learning and online vacancies.
  • Stay informed on the local labour market and source suitable opportunities.
  • Undertake direct marketing to employers via digital media.
  • Identify employer recruitment needs and conduct prescreens and group assessments.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to maximise job opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of local signposting services and specialised support.
  • Participate in continuous improvement to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Work flexibly, including necessary travel and overnight stays.
  • Assist with any other duties as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Good working knowledge of local labour market in specified region.
  • Basic knowledge of self‑employment.
  • Fully IT literate with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a target‑driven environment.
  • Experience delivering services meeting contractual and quality standards.
  • Desirable: knowledge of employability industry, recruitment industry, information‑advice‑guidance provision.
  • Full driving licence.
