Job summary

A leading employment agency seeks an Employability & Skills Mentor in Yate to empower young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), towards employment and education opportunities. Responsibilities include developing tailored action plans and collaborating with stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have relevant qualifications and experience working with youth, along with strong communication skills. This temporary role offers an hourly rate of £19.00, requiring a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.

Your Role Will Include:
  • Developing personalised action plans tailored to the needs of young people, focusing on career development and learning programmes.
  • Supporting young people in overcoming barriers to employment and education, and referring them to relevant progression opportunities.
  • Collaborating with schools, colleges, local authority teams, employers, and specialist providers to identify educational and employment pathways.
  • Maintaining regular contact with your caseload, providing ongoing 1:1 and group support to ensure progress.
  • Arranging pre-placement meetings with employers and supporting young people during their placements to maximise their success.
  • Conducting outreach activities to engage and recruit young people onto the programme.
  • Keeping accurate records to monitor progress and report outcomes against KPIs.
What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Ideally, an Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG), youth work, or teaching qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4 or above), or equivalent qualification, including English and Maths.
  • Proven experience working with young people, particularly those with SEND, and a strong understanding of the barriers they face in accessing employment and education.
  • Experience in employer engagement and supporting young people in work placements or pre-employment programmes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Additional Requirements:
  • A full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
