Job description
Emergency Medicine Trust Grade Doctor (F2)

We are looking for a doctor to work and train as a Trust Grade doctor (F2 level) in Emergency Medicine. This 12‑month post commences December 2025 and is ideal for qualified doctors with experience. The post will be based at the Emergency Department of the Princess Royal University Hospital, a designated Trauma Unit and Hyper‑acute Stroke Centre (BR6 8ND). Post holders may work up to 44.3 hours per week (including night shifts and weekend duties). Accommodation may be available. The successful candidate will join a dynamic emergency workforce treating a wide spectrum of emergency medicine presentations, providing a great opportunity to broaden experience while working in a friendly and supportive environment.

The primary duties of the post are to see new patients within the Emergency Department, with ready access to supervision from more senior staff and dedicated teaching opportunities. The ED consultant team provides clinical supervision and care delivery 16 hours per day, 7 days a week, and has a variety of special interests including trauma, frailty, disaster medicine, education, public health, global health and pre‑hospital care.

Training and Development
  • Regular ED training programme to acquire the knowledge and skills required in emergency medicine, including lecture‑room teaching, clinical supervision, attendance at relevant clinics and courses, and full immersion simulation sessions. Special emphasis is placed on passing the Royal College of Emergency Medicine examinations.
  • Involvement in a clinical audit and/or quality improvement project.
  • Study leave can be arranged with sufficient notice for educational activities such as life‑support courses, other emergency medicine courses and exam preparation.
  • Funding is available for educational activities.
  • Regular appraisals and mentoring with an engaged and motivated Emergency Medicine Consultant.
  • Support to obtain the Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST) if required.
  • Opportunities for flexible working and career progression to a more senior grade.
