A leading Defence and Aerospace company based in Bristol is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for a 6-month contract, offering £70 per hour. The ideal candidate will have experience in V&V activities within an embedded software environment, and will be responsible for verification and validation activities on real-time systems. Qualifications

• Experience in Embedded Software Development using C/C++.
• Experience in V&V activities in an Embedded Software environment.
• Ability to develop test cases and procedures from requirements.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for verification and validation activities on real-time systems.
• Developing robust test cases and executing tests.
• Practical problem-solving and data acquisition expertise.

Skills

Embedded software development using Ada and/or C/C++

V&V activities in an embedded software environment

Experience of working in a lab environment on an electro-mechanical product

Ability to turn requirements into structured test cases

Scripting abilities

Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems

Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C & DO-330

Knowledge of test automation methods

Breakpoint Analysis experience

Model Driven Design experience

Knowledge of DOORS, EWM, Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA

Focused Code Reviews experience

Due to the nature of the work you will be involved in, you will be required to obtain UK SC clearance in this role.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the verification and validation activities on real-time systems application software
• Taking requirements, developing them into robust test cases, preparing and executing tests, capturing data, and delivering actionable feedback to project teams
• Practical problem-solving, data acquisition expertise, and adaptability

Skillset

• V&V activities in an embedded software environment
• Ability to turn requirements into structured test cases and procedures
• Experience of working in a lab environment on an electro-mechanical product running embedded software
• Good working knowledge of the complete software engineering lifecycle
• Scripting abilities
• Embedded software development experience using Ada and/or C/C++.
• Safety critical systems experience
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C & DO-330
• Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems
• Model Driven Design experience
• Knowledge of test automation methods
• Knowledge of DOORS, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA
• Breakpoint Analysis experience
• Experience of Focused Code Reviews
