This is an initial 3 month fixed term contract with the possibility of moving into a full term role. This role is ideally suited to a UK Armed Forces veteran from a Technical Background, REME, RAF Avionics, Marine Engineering, or similar, who are looking to apply their hands-on technical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills in a civilian engineering environment.

You’ll work on a wide variety of tasks from maintaining control panels and fuel pumps to designing new electrical systems and calibrating test equipment. If you’re adaptable, mechanically inclined, and keen to learn, you’ll find this role both challenging and rewarding.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair engine control panels (including throttle systems)
  • Service and manage data logging hardware and fuel pumps
  • Design, build, and install electrical control panels for engine and rig systems
  • Calibrate and maintain sensors and test equipment (thermocouples, flowmeters, transducers)
  • Work from wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
  • Support site electrical maintenance (lighting, interlocks, safety systems)
  • Contribute to work under an ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Essential qualifications and attributes
  • Relevant electronics qualification (BSc or equivalent) OR strong military technical training
  • Experience with low-voltage electrical systems
  • Confident troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on ability with hand tools and manual assembly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, plus basic MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently
  • Full UK driving licence and reliable transport
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Laboratory or test house experience
  • Background in aerospace, aviation, or defence systems
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) experience/qualification
  • Knowledge of ATEX regulations
  • Experience with high-voltage or 3-phase systems
  • Calibration and control system integration skills
  • Current SC clearance would be useful, or the ability to gain and hold such clearance
Why this role could be right for you
  • Varied and hands-on engineering challenges; no two days are the same
  • Chance to apply military engineering expertise to a civilian high-tech setting
  • Supportive small-team environment with scope to learn and grow
  • Flexible working hours (core 10am – 4pm, 37.5 hours per week)
