MPI ARE searching for an Electronics Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing electronic products for a variety of major OEM’s for our client.

The Role:

To Design and support electronic products for a variety of major OEM’s in market sectors including Automotive, Clean Energy, Communication & Broadcasting, Consumer, Defence & Aerospace, Homeland Security, IP Development Platforms, Medical, Scientific Research & Space. With this spread of market sectors you can see that the scope of projects will be vast, challenging, and interesting.

Working with a multi-disciplined engineering team consisting of Mechanical, Electronic, PCB and Software Engineers you will be involved in every aspect of the product lifecycle from initial contact with the customer through quotation, conception and design to manufacture.

The work is rewarding and diverse enabling you to use the full scope of your electronic engineering skills and experience.

You will be able to work remotely and we will supply you the IT equipment as needed so that you can carry out your role. However, we have an electronics lab located at Luton in Bedfordshire and you will need to travel into site when working on hardware and or to assist with issues as needed.

About you:

You will be an experienced Electronic Design Engineer who has designed products for manufacture, accustomed to working to deadlines and able to communicate with customers in an eloquent and professional manner. Whilst you will have a good grounding in embedded systems software your focus will be hardware. You will be self-managing and highly motivated with a methodical, analytical approach and a willingness to work to existing design ethics and style.

  • Ideally a degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.

  • Extensive experience of Electronics Hardware Design from concept through to production.

  • Excellent analytical and problems solving skills combined with knowledge and experience of a wide range of electronic technologies and products.

  • Demonstrable skills in the authoring of key technical documentation and reports.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with both non-technical and technical clients.

  • Adaptable engineering approach dependant on project type and clients expectations.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a relevant commercial design environment.

  • Mixed Analogue and Digital Design with Micro-controllers.

  • Schematic Capture (Altium)

  • Highly Developed Structured Approach to Design

  • Good technical writing and documentation experience

  • FMEA and problem-solving techniques

  • Approvals and Validation

  • Manage project timing

  • Full driving licence (you may be required to support on customer sites)

  • Be eligible for SC Clearance

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Switched Mode Power Supply Design

  • Microprocessors 8, 16, 32, 64 Bit

  • Good understanding of EMC design requirements

  • Embedded Programming Experience / awareness.

  • Version Control

  • Communications Protocols: CAN, Ethernet, RS485, USB, CAN/Ethernet Diagnostics

Location:

This role is primarily remotely based with the requirement to travel to our Luton HQ when projects require a hands-on hardware element, the occasional visit to a clients site could also be required.
