The Role

As a High Voltage Electrician/Wireman, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of High Voltage electrical systems. You'll work to industry‑leading safety standards while supporting project teams to deliver high‑quality, compliant installations on time.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Installations & Repairs
    • Carry out installations, maintenance, and repairs on HV power distribution networks, signalling systems, SCADA and control systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Work in accordance with all electrical regulations, site safety protocols, and company procedures.
    • Promote a strong safety‑first culture across the team.
  • Fault Finding & Diagnostics
    • Identify and resolve electrical faults through structured troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
  • Testing & Inspection
    • Perform functional and safety testing on HV systems to verify performance, efficiency, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records including installation reports, daily logs, test certificates, and maintenance documentation.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other operatives to ensure smooth project delivery and technical accuracy.
  • Interpreting Specifications
    • Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and project documentation to ensure compliant installations.
  • Tools & Equipment
    • Use, maintain, and safely operate specialist HV electrical tools, testing equipment, and instruments.
  • Continuous Development
    • Stay up to date with new technologies, industry standards, and best practices with opportunities for training and further certification.
Essential Requirements
  • JIB Graded Electrician status
  • 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification
  • Proven experience in:
    • Containment installation (tray, trunking, conduit, ladder rack)
    • Small wiring and multi‑core cable works
    • Testing and inspection
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and HV electrical standards
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
