Job summary

A housing organization in the UK is seeking an experienced Electrician to manage electrical installations and maintenance across properties. The ideal candidate will have a valid ECS Gold Card and strong qualifications in electrical work. Responsibilities include performing electrical repairs, managing equipment, and ensuring tenant safety. The role requires excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A full UK driving license is also necessary.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of ECS Gold Card and relevant qualifications.
  • Recognized UK electrical qualifications such as C&G and NVQ.
  • Experience in domestic electrical work, including rewires and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake all electrical works for Saffron Housing Trust properties.
  • Close down jobs on a mobile device when completed.
  • Ensure safety and security of tenants by participating in on-call rota.

Job description

Fulltime: 37hrs per week
Proposed Interview Date: W/C 9th February (TBC)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to carry out electrical installation and maintenance tasks throughout the whole of Saffron Housing Trust Properties.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Undertake all electrical works including maintenance, modernisation, improvements and remedials to maintain all premises owned by Saffron or those they have interest in.
  • Responsible for ensuring all jobs are closed down allein when jobs are completed via a mobile device.
  • Responsible for all equipment-prvided by Saffron including van stock, vehicle, tools, and materials.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of Saffron’s tenants and properties by participating on the out of hours call out rota, as required.

    Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
    Educations and Qualifications:
    • Provide evidence of an ECS Gold Card. This ensures the holder has:
      o A Level 3 competency-based standard (NVQ) in Electrical installations plus a formal BS7671 Qualification in the current edition of the Wiring regulations in force when your application was made.
      o If you trained prior to 1999, you would need to Kol evidence the ‘industry-recognised standard at that time
      o Where non-UK qualifications are held applicants must meet the following criteria:
      The Ecctis* Electrotechnical Skills Statement
      The Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Assessment (including)
      Experienced Worker Qualification Level 3 performance units
      BS7671:2018 (18th edition) Requirements for Electrical Installations
      The level 3 Initial Verification of Electrical Installations
      The UK Industry Assessment of Occupational Competence (AM2E or AM2ED)
      ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment
      A City and Guilds 2391 testing and inspection certificate demonstrating competence to test both domestic and commercial buildings

    • Recognised UK electrical qualifications:
      o C&G 2360 levels 2&3 Parts 1&2 & NVQ level 3 & C&G 2391 (equivalent C&G 2394/95 or EAL equivalent).
      o C&G 2330 Levels 2&3 with NVQ level 3 & AM2 & C&G 2391 (equivalentufu C&G 2394/95 or EAL equivalent).
      o 18th Edition BS7671:2018. City & Guilds or EAL Qualification
      o Current JIB card to either recrutement electrician with NVQ level qualification.
      o AM2 qualification

    Experience:

    • Relevant experience and knowledge in all types of domestic electrical work, including rewires, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, wiring, connection, and commissioning of all types of heating fuel systems.
    • Experience of working in both occupied and unoccupied properties and on occasions in extreme temperatures and conditions due to seasonal weather conditions.
    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    • Possess working knowledge of domestic BS5839 Part 6:2019 domestic fire detection systems and BS5266: 2016 emergency lighting.
    • Able to work as part of a team and able to work independently without the need for close supervision.
    • Excellent time management skills, including an ability to prioritise workload and meet agreed deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possessing the ability to liaise with various audiences.
    • Ability to use a mobile device (mobile phone/tablet) to manage workload, send and receive emails, access apps to order stock and MS Teams for meetings / training.
    • Ability to participate on the out of hours call out rota.
    Personal Attributes:
    • Full, current, valid driving licence.
    • Must be comfortable working within confined areas e.g. roof spaces, which are subject to fluctuating temperatures during the year.
