Job description
Overview

Astute People\u2019s Power Team are exclusively working with the South Clyde Energy Centre to recruit a full complement of Operations & Maintenance staff. The plant, currently under construction, is capable of processing up to 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing power for up to 70,000 homes. This new build Power Station is due to enter commercial operation by the end of 2026. Now is an ideal time to join the power station as you\u2019ll be involved in full plant commissioning, training & mobilisation.

Responsibilities and duties
  • As the Electrical Technician you will be responsible for fault finding and maintaining electrical assets including motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and HV/LV plant.
  • Work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • Be involved in continuous improvement activities, plant inspections and fault investigation work.
  • Assist in plant developments and projects.
  • Supervise and set to work on site contractors.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS.
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination.
  • Ensure the availability of plant spares.
Professional qualifications
  • A recognised qualification in Electrical engineering at Level 3 (C&G, ONC, NVQ, SVQ) level or higher; other qualifications below this will be considered with extensive experience.
  • Ideally qualified with an IOSH or equivalent with an appreciation of workplace Health & Safety including knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, LOTO, Isolations, SOPs, RAMS would also be considered.
  • Recognised Electrical Maintenance Apprenticeship.
Personal skills
  • At least three years hands on maintenance experience.
  • Familiar with Health & Safety Regulations such as DSEAR, COMPEX, ATEX etc.
  • Hands on experience with a range of equipment including motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and HV/LV plant.
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in an industry such as Power Generation, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas etc.
  • Marine Engineers from Merchant Fleet or Royal Navy will be considered.
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
