Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production site at Latton (GL7 5QF) near Swindon.

The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.

Follow robust planned maintenance as well as get involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required.

Additional Details
  • Base Location - Latton WTW - Cirencester - GL7 5QF.
  • 38 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
  • All PPE, tools, and a company van provided when on duty and call.
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate plant failures and repair efficiently to prevent process interruptions.
  • Diagnose complex faults and perform repairs during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, training, and support for trainees.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, flow, level, pressure measurement devices, PLCs, variable speed drives, and chemical handling equipment.
  • Participate in standby rota following training.
  • Complete License to operate and learn water treatment processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification is essential.
  • Experience in electrical systems, ideally with an apprenticeship in a multi-skilled capacity.
  • NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems, and 3-phase switchgear.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the industry.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces with proper training.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
