Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Electrical Technician for the Maintenance team in the Wastewater Division, based at Abbey Mills – Stratford – E15 2RN. You will use electrical knowledge and on-site experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient and timely manner with minimal supervision to keep sites operational for customers.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  • Ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with the Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as required; daily planned maintenance of plant and equipment; installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
  • Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying potential future risks, and raising for resolution as required.
  • Providing specialist technical advice with up-to-date technical knowledge; coaching, training and developing staff under supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Delivering excellent customer experience and contributing to overall customer satisfaction by interacting with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.

Base Location: Abbey Mills – Stratford – E15 2RN

Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments; overtime opportunities may increase earnings upon completion of essential company training.

Other requirements: All PPE, tools, and a van provided when on duty and on call. You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or hold NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical engineering.

  • Time-served apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems or NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • 18th Edition.
  • Problem solver able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
  • Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, adaptable to the pressures of work and a changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative, to design and meet standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work across different teams, respectful, provides constructive feedback, and supports the development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
