Electrical Manager – Major Projects

Reporting to Responsible Electrical Engineer

Based in : Teesside (Middlesbrough).

Salary : Negotiable – Whilst all salaries are graded, Sembcorp are keen to attract, retain and develop the highest calibre of colleague. The company also offer a market leading benefits package and annual bonus.

Position overview

Reporting to the Responsible Electrical Engineer the Electrical Manager will act as the single point of contact for delivering the major projects on the Wilton Electrical Distribution System. The role will require a strong operational skillset along with ability to manage significant projects.

Key responsibilities
Safety
  • Responsible for all safety and engineering standards, associated with the Wilton Electrical Infrastructure project portfolio.
  • Positively encourage a culture of safety first. “Walk the talk”.
  • Responsible for the management of “Gensuite” investigations, corrective actions and findings, associated with the specific asset.
  • Responsible to ensure all project work is safely constructed and commissioned in line with company standards.
Project Management
  • Responsible for ensuring that the HV equipment is developed and commissioned within the requirements of UK Legislation.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to the relevant engineering standards and quality assurance / control in line with defined statutory, legislative and business standards.
  • Accountable for setting priorities for engineering and project activities to maximise efficiencies, ensure legal compliance, and reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Responsible for the implementation, development and management of all appropriate preventative maintenance routines (PM’s) for all new assets.
  • Responsible for the development of the annual Capital and SRM project programme in alignment with the long‑term business plan and Integrity issues.
  • Build relationship with internal and external customers to provide point of contact for High Voltage projects, connections, switching and commissioning
  • To carry out Senior Authorised Person’s role as defined in the SembCorp electrical distribution operating rules
Asset Life Plan and Continuous Improvement
  • Responsible for the implementation, development and management Asset Life Planning, identifying long term engineering vulnerabilities, and producing maintenance policies for equipment.
  • Responsible for actively seeking new and emerging technologies and methodologies to drive towards the “Best Available Technology”.
  • Responsible for ensuring an up to date and complete Technical Library, equipment criticality study, critical spares holding, 10-year plan, planned maintenance schedule and codal inspection program is in place and audited for compliance for the assets in their area.
  • Actively partake in site electrical engineer forums to share and promote best practise.
Budgets
  • Responsible for the Capex spend on the Electrical Infrastructure
Other
  • Provide out of hours support to the asset as and when required.
  • Provide training to the business within the scope of HV Site Distribution Safety Rules.
To be considered for the role you will have :
  • Degree or HNC with minimum 10 years relevant power system experience
  • Authorisation as senior authorised person under high voltage operating rules
  • Minimum 10 years experience of engineering and equipment maintenance (high voltage electrical)
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Good understanding of Power Networks and Modelling
  • Enhanced analytical and problem‑solving skills in the engineering area.
  • Excellent SHE awareness, especially the maintenance / engineering aspects.
  • Excellent knowledge of legislative / codal requirements of role.
  • Excellent influencing skills, especially with those not directly reporting to role.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of cost control and contractor management.
  • Good people management skills (detailed knowledge of HR procedures / legislation).
