Overview

Electrical Maintenance Engineer — Location: Whitstable • Salary: Competitive • Hours: Monday to Friday.

The Role: We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy site in Whitstable. This is a hands-on role supporting both plant and facilities, delivering planned and reactive maintenance, and helping with continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also assist with projects such as new equipment installations, site upgrades, and sustainability improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive work orders.
  • Diagnose equipment and component failures, repair or replace parts, and ensure machinery is fully operational.
  • Work with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Support installation of plant and equipment, including control panels and fixed electrical systems.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records using CMMS.
  • Support facilities maintenance such as buildings, roadways, water systems, and communications.
  • Liaise with colleagues, departments, and contractors professionally, reviewing RAMS and issuing PTWs when required.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Work safely, following health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Skills & Experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar maintenance role.
  • NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Computer literate with experience using maintenance software and raising purchase orders.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, injection moulding, automation, or plating processes is desirable.
  • Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH Working Safely) and specific electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition) are advantageous.
