A leading facilities services provider is seeking an experienced Shift Electrical Engineer for a permanent position at a static site in Cardiff. You will work on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern covering days and nights, performing maintenance and repairs on electrical systems. Shift Electrical Engineer – Cardiff (Static Site)

Location: Cardiff

Hours: 4 on 4 off – Days & Nights (12-hour shifts)

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Site Type: Static commercial site

Our client is seeking an experienced Shift Electrical Engineer to join their on-site engineering team at a large, high-profile static facility in Cardiff. This role operates on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, covering both days and nights, and offers long-term career stability with training and progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and statutory compliance tasks
  2. Carry out electrical fault finding, testing, and reactive repairs on systems including lighting, power, distribution boards, and control panels
  3. Support maintenance and operation of electrical plant including switchgear, UPS, and emergency lighting systems
  4. Ensure compliance with health & safety, permit-to-work systems, and risk assessments
  5. Record keeping of works carried out and completion of relevant documentation
  6. Provide support to other trades and assist with general building services tasks as needed
Requirements:
  1. Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2365, 2330, or NVQ Level 3)
  2. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
  3. Previous experience in a critical or commercial building environment (e.g., data centres, hospitals, offices)
  4. Strong understanding of electrical systems, fault finding, and planned maintenance
  5. Ability to work independently on shift and make sound engineering decisions
  6. Good communication and reporting skills
