Job summary

A regional engineering firm is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform routine servicing and maintenance on diesel generators in the Eastleigh area. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification and experience servicing generator sets. Strong fault-finding and communication skills are required. Qualifications

Field Service Engineer

Location: Southampton surrounding

Salary: £32,680 - £38,300 + OT £54,100

Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance on diesel generators (customer-owned and rental fleet)
  • Diagnose and repair faults efficiently
  • Conduct site surveys to assess service and maintenance needs
  • Participate in on‑call rota as required
  • Maintain safe, tidy workspaces and comply with Health & Safety standards
  • Follow ISO standards (ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, 50001) and support continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Diesel Fitting qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ, or apprenticeship)
  • Proven experience servicing generator sets (FG Wilson, Cummins, or similar)
  • Strong fault‑finding and communication skills
  • Field service experience (advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • ECS/CSCS/CCNSG card preferred but not essential (training provided if required)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
