Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Controls Engineer role

• Develop and produce Functional Design Specifications (FDS), System Design Specifications (SDS), and all relevant design documentation.
• Design and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Siemens experience essential; experience with Mitsubishi and other systems advantageous).
• Design electrical distribution systems, motor control centres (MCCs), and PLC control systems using AutoCAD.
• Participate in all stages of projects, from concept through to detailed design and completion.
• Attend client and sub-contractor meetings, providing technical expertise to support project delivery.
• Prepare and manage test documentation for FAT/SAT and oversee Factory Acceptance Testing at panel manufacturers' facilities.
• Contribute to the preparation of estimates, tenders, and design specifications.
• Author O&M manuals and maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in electrical engineering.

Professional qualifications

• Engineering qualification to Level 4 or above (HND/Degree or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8 years' experience as a Controls Engineer.
• Proven design experience in an electrical or controls engineering role, including AutoCAD.
• Strong experience in control panel and MCC design, preferably using Siemens equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial control systems, including electrical distribution, motor control centres, and PLC control panels.
• Experience in a turnkey project environment.
