Auto Electrical Technicianwanted to join a low-volume manufacturer based near Daventry on an ongoing contract basis.

Location:Near Daventry
Employment Type:Ongoing Contract – Inside IR35
Pay: £30 per hour (UMBRELLA PAYE)

Hours: Day shift – Monday to Friday.

We’re looking for an Auto Electrical Technicianto join a growing team, supporting the commissioning and delivery of cutting-edge vehicles. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and operations, ensuring every vehicle meets precise electrical and software specifications before it leaves the facility.

You’ll be responsible for carrying out electrical commissioning tasks, performing software updates via laptop-based tools, and collaborating closely with engineering to set system parameters and verify vehicle safety and performance.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong electrical background — particularly within the automotive or vehicle manufacturing sector — who enjoys problem-solving, precision work, and cross-functional collaboration.

A typical day as an Auto Electrical Technician:

  • Electrically commission vehicles in line with engineering specifications and safety requirements.
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to perform system updates, fault diagnostics, and parameter settings.
  • Ensure each vehicle operates to the latest software and calibration standards before release.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to apply and verify system configurations.
  • Support operations and production during build and test phases, resolving electrical or software issues efficiently.
  • Conduct system verification and safety checks prior to vehicle sign-off.
  • Record and maintain detailed logs of software versions, electrical configurations, and test results.
  • Provide technical feedback to improve commissioning processes and documentation.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for troubleshooting.
  • Assist with training or mentoring production and assembly colleagues on electrical best practices.

As an Auto Electrical Technician, you will hold various skills & experience including:

  • Strong background in vehicle electrical systems, diagnostics, or commissioning.
  • Experience using automotive diagnostic or programming software (e.g., OEM diagnostic tools, CAN-based systems).
  • Solid understanding of vehicle control systems, wiring, and calibration procedures.
  • Confident working with laptops and diagnostic interfaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively between engineering and operations teams.
  • Methodical, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing, motorsport, or vehicle testing environment advantageous.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07.00 – 16.30 / Friday, 07.00 – 12.45

Umbrella PAYE Pay Rate: £30 per hour.

Please note, your umbrella PAYE pay rate is made up of three elements, assignment rate, holiday pay, and Apex contribution towards employer social costs
