Job description

We're looking for a motivated and hands‑on Electrical Apprentice to join our skilled Property Maintenance Services team. As an Electrical Apprentice, you'll learn directly from experienced electricians while gaining your formal qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with electrical installation, maintenance, and repairs in Curo homes.
  • Diagnose faults and learn safe, effective repair techniques.
  • Work on real projects that improve the lives of our customers.
  • Develop knowledge of wiring systems, safety standards, compliance, and best practice.
  • Keep accurate records, use digital work systems, and follow health & safety procedures.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and environmental guidance when planning and performing electrical work in industrial, commercial, and residential environments.
  • Identify and use protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking electrical work.
  • Carry out work in a tidy and safe manner, restoring work area on completion.
  • Apply building regulations, industry guidance notes, current edition of BS7671 Wiring Regulations, and other relevant standards while carrying out work.
  • Understand and apply practices and procedures for planning and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment.
  • Apply mathematical and scientific techniques, formulae, and calculations that underpin an electrician's work.
  • Use a range of tools, materials, equipment, and components, including prefabricated, relevant to performing electrical work.
  • Design, plan, set up, and install electrical and related electronic systems, including terminating and connecting cables in electrical wiring systems in commercial, industrial, and residential installations.
  • Inspect and test new and existing electrical installations using test equipment.
  • Apply diagnostic and problem‑solving techniques to identify, assess and resolve electrical faults.
  • Install electrical and electronic equipment and components, including traditional and novel technologies such as EV charge points, battery storage, solar and thermal panels, heating and cooling systems.
  • Maintain electrical and electronic equipment and components, including similar technologies.
  • Carry out and manage own work ensuring it is compliant to required standards.
  • Record work, including completion and maintenance of documentation, recording of test results and preparation of appropriate certification.
  • Use relevant digital learning platforms and business communication and collaboration applications.

Training Schedule

Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3. You will need to attend college one day per week, term time only, at our Somer Valley Campus in Radstock.

Curo is a not‑for‑profit Social Housing Company based in Bath, with over 14000 properties across a large geographical area covering BANES, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire.

After successful completion of the apprenticeship, you may have the opportunity to continue your career with Curo.

£18,932 a year for an apprentice aged 16‑18. Apprentices aged 21‑22 receive £24,532.92 per year. Apprentices aged 23 and over receive £25,637.30 per year.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am until 5pm, 40 hours a week. Start date: Thursday 22 January 2026. Duration: 4 years 6 months.
