Overview

Job Title: Electoral Canvasser

Location: Ashford, Kent

Contract: Temporary - 1 Month

Hours: 27.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (5.5 hours per day, to be completed by 4pm)

Start Date: October 2025

Responsibilities
  • Visit designated households to collect and check household enquiry forms.
  • Provide guidance to residents on completing forms.
  • Leave calling cards/additional forms with freepost envelopes where no contact is made.
  • Return completed forms to the Electoral Services office weekly and provide progress updates.
  • Record information about new or no-longer-existing properties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information handled.
  • Work independently while adhering to training and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Access to own vehicle with business insurance (essential).
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to use tact and deal effectively with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and confidentiality.
  • Must be available for the full canvassing period.
Equipment & Safety
  • You will be provided with a High Viz jacket, canvass bag, clipboard, and personal alarm.
  • Lone working applies, and training will be given on safety procedures.
